Nutrition Tracking

Count calories without typing a single number

Scan the barcode, tap the meal you already planned, and let your own recipes do the math. Most trackers make you hunt a generic database for something close enough - CookBird knows the exact recipe you cooked.

Logging what you actually eat is usually the most tedious part of tracking anything - searching a food database for the closest match to a homemade dish, guessing at portions, estimating an ingredient list that isn't really yours. It's a lot of typing for a rough approximation.

CookBird's food log skips the guessing when the meal is something from your own recipe book: pick the recipe, say how much of it you had, and the nutrition is computed from the recipe's actual ingredients - not a generic stand-in. You can also log a barcode-scanned product or just a free-text note for anything that isn't a saved recipe.

Scan & log

A snack is logged before the wrapper hits the bin

Scan the barcode and it lands in today’s total. Not in the database yet? Scan the nutrition label once and it’s saved for everyone after you.

  • Barcode in a second

Point your phone at the barcode and the product, its brand and its nutrition are filled in for you.

  • New product? Scan the label

CookBird reads energy, fat, carbs, protein and salt straight off the nutrition table and saves the product.

  • Products other people already added

The database grows with everyone who uses it, so most of your groceries are one scan away from logged.

On your phone

Scan a barcode or label in a second, in the store or at the kitchen counter.

On the web

No phone at hand? Upload a photo of the label instead.

How it works

1

Cook something from your book

Any recipe already in your CookBird account - imported or typed in, it doesn't matter.

2

Log a serving

Pick the recipe from the food log, say how much of it you had (defaults to a full serving), and CookBird computes the nutrition from its actual ingredients.

3

Check your daily total

Every entry for the day - recipes, scanned products, or free-text notes - rolls up into one total automatically.

Log straight from your own recipes

Pick a recipe you already cooked and log a serving of it - CookBird computes the nutrition from the actual ingredients, no manual calorie lookup required.

Daily totals, automatically

Every logged recipe, product, or note rolls up into a daily nutrition total - view any day without adding anything up yourself.

Strictly private

Unlike your recipe book, nothing in your food log is ever shared with anyone you've invited - not even people you share recipes and shopping lists with.

A one-tap shortcut for planned meals

If today's meal is already in your meal plan, logging it is a single tap - no need to search or re-select the recipe you'd already planned to eat.

Goals

Set a goal, then just eat and log

Losing weight, holding steady or building muscle: pick a goal and CookBird sets the daily calorie and protein target. Try it - switch goals and tap a meal to log it.

  • A target that matches your goal

Daily calories and protein follow what you’re actually trying to do, instead of one generic number.

  • The trend, not one bad day

Log your weight now and then and watch the line move toward your goal without obsessing over a Tuesday.

  • Planned meals log in one tap

Tonight’s dinner is already in your meal plan. One tap puts the whole meal in your log, with its nutrition.

Why it’s different

A calorie tracker that knows what’s in your dinner

Scanned products become recipe ingredients, recipes become planned meals, and planned meals become log entries. Nothing gets typed twice.

Step 1 of 6

Common questions

How accurate is the nutrition information?

It's an AI-computed estimate based on the recipe's actual ingredients and quantities - useful for tracking trends and daily totals, not a substitute for lab-tested nutrition labeling.

Can I scan barcodes to log products?

Yes. Scanning a barcode on your phone is the fastest way to log a packaged product. If nobody has added it yet, scan the nutrition label once and CookBird reads the values off it and saves the product for everyone.

Can I scan products on the web too?

Yes, though a phone is easier: on the web you upload a photo of the nutrition label instead of pointing a camera at it. The result is the same product in the same database.

Can I set a calorie or weight goal?

Yes. Pick losing weight, maintaining or building muscle and CookBird sets a daily calorie and protein target, then tracks your daily totals and weight trend against it.

Can anyone I share recipes with see my food log?

No. Food log entries are strictly private to your own account, even for people you've shared your recipe book or shopping lists with.

What if what I ate wasn't a recipe from my book?

You can also log a barcode-scanned or manually entered product, or just a free-text note if there's no nutrition data to compute - a single entry can combine a note with a recipe or product too.

Does it work with my meal plan?

If today's meal is already in your meal plan, logging it is a single tap that copies the recipe over - no need to search for it separately.
