Why we're building CookBird
Cooking is one of the few things most of us do every single day - it shouldn't take more effort to organize than it does to actually cook.
Most of us end up with recipes spread across a dozen places: a bookmarks folder nobody revisits, screenshots buried in a camera roll, a sticky note on the fridge that's gone by the time you need it. And even once you've found the recipe, there's still the shopping list to build - by hand, ingredient by ingredient, recipe by recipe.
CookBird started from that frustration. It brings your recipes into one place you can actually search, turns a handful of them into a single consolidated shopping list, and lets the people you cook with - family, roommates, whoever's doing the shopping this week - see the same recipes and check the same list off together.
Recipes belong in one place
Not scattered across bookmarks, screenshots, and half-remembered blog posts. If you found it once, you should be able to find it again.
Cooking is better together
Meals get planned, shopped for, and cooked with other people. CookBird is built around that, not around a single person's private list.
Simple over clever
CookBird focuses on doing a few things well - keeping recipes, building shopping lists, and sharing both - rather than trying to be everything at once.
