Meal Prep

Prep once, eat all week

Meal prep lives or dies on the shopping list - get that wrong and the whole week's plan falls apart before you've cooked anything.

Batch cooking for the week only saves time if the planning doesn't eat into it - re-reading five recipes to build a shopping list, then realizing halfway through Sunday's cooking session that you're short an ingredient, defeats the point.

Lay your prep week out in CookBird's meal plan first - a recipe per slot, straight from your book - then generate one shopping list from the whole plan before you go shopping. Every ingredient across every recipe is already accounted for and merged, so there's nothing left to discover mid-prep.

How it works

1

Lay out your prep week

Assign a recipe to each meal slot you plan to batch cook - as many days and meals as you actually prep for, straight from your recipe book.

2

Generate the shopping list

Build one consolidated list from the entire plan before you shop - every ingredient from every recipe accounted for and merged in advance.

3

Cook the batch, then log as you go

Prep everything in one session, and optionally log each meal in the food log through the week to keep a private record of what you actually ate.

Lay out the whole week at once

Assign recipes to breakfast, lunch, and dinner across every day you plan to prep for - as much or as little of the week as you actually batch cook.

One shopping list for the whole batch

Generate a single consolidated list from the entire week's plan, ingredients merged across every recipe - one trip, not five.

Calories rolled up per day

Each day's total calories and nutrition are pulled straight from the recipes you planned - useful for keeping portions consistent across a batch.

Macros

Know exactly what’s in every container

Each prepped portion carries the calories and macros of the recipe it came from, so hitting your protein target is a matter of eating what you already cooked. Tap a meal to log it.

  • A protein target that fits your training

Building muscle, cutting or holding steady: the daily calorie and protein target follows the goal you pick.

  • Macros per portion, not per pan

Split a batch into portions and every container carries its own share of the recipe’s nutrition.

  • Log a container in one tap

Grab lunch from the fridge and tap the meal you planned. The whole thing lands in your log.

Snacks and shakes

The food around your prep counts too

Protein bars, yogurt, the oat milk in your coffee: scan the barcode and it lands in the same daily total as your containers.

  • Scan it at the supermarket

Checking whether a bar fits your macros? Scan it in the aisle before it goes in the basket.

  • New product? Scan the label

CookBird reads the nutrition table off the package and saves the product for everyone.

  • Reuse it in your recipes

A scanned product is also an ingredient, so next week’s batch gets its nutrition from the same numbers.

On your phone

Common questions

Do I have to prep every meal for the whole week?

No - plan and prep as many meals as actually fits your routine. An empty slot in the meal plan just means nothing's assigned there.

Does the shopping list account for larger batch quantities?

The list reflects the ingredient amounts from the recipes as written. If you're scaling a recipe up for a bigger batch, adjust the recipe's quantities before generating the list.

Can I see how many calories are in each prepped meal?

Yes - calories and nutrition for each meal roll up automatically from the recipe, both in the meal plan and if you log it afterward in the food log.

Can I track macros for my prepped meals?

Yes. Calories and macros come from the recipe you batch cooked, so every portion carries its own numbers. Pick a goal and CookBird sets a daily calorie and protein target to log against.

How do I log a container I cooked days ago?

If the meal is in your plan, one tap logs it. Otherwise pick the recipe from your book and say how many servings you had - CookBird works out the rest.

Does CookBird help with storage or reheating instructions?

No - CookBird handles the planning and shopping list side of meal prep, not storage or reheating guidance for after you've cooked.
